Sebastien Gabriel, a developer for Chrome, has stated that their game, which has no internet, is a tribute to the prehistoric era, which occurred millions of dino game years before the technological explosion. In addition, the pixelated appearance of the game is a tribute to the mistake drawings that appear in the Google browser.
The Chrome dinosaur offline game was given the codename "Project Bolan" in recognition of Marc Bolan, the frontman of the iconic rock band T-Rex, which was active in the 1970s. During the process of building the game, the developers considered giving Dino additional capabilities such as screaming and kicking, but they ultimately decided against doing so in order to maintain the game's "prehistoric" or "mostly simplistic" nature.
